Hanover, Germany (ots/PROTEXT) - Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA andNYSE: ALA) invites the visitors of the CeBIT 2002 in Hanover tosurf on a real-life 3G/UMTS network and to experience 3rdgeneration mobile applications and services.
The UMTS network deployed in CeBIT is powered by Alcatel'sstate of the art Evolium(tm) radio and core solutions, providinglive UMTS coverage not only to Alcatel's booth but also toleading telecommunication players such as MobilCom andMitsubishi. The network showcases the reality of live UMTSapplications, such as videophony on 3GPP-compliant UMTS handsetswith circuit switched connections at 64 Kbps, Mobile InternetApplications, MPEG4-based video streaming or real-time andinteractive gaming in packet switched connections reaching up to384Kbps.
To achieve this full 3GPP UMTS coverage, Alcatel provides acomplete end-to-end UMTS network based on a core-network locatedin the Paris area which comprises its Alcatel 1000 MSC/HLR, SGSN& GGSN and a radio infrastructure comprising various Node B's(UMTS Base Station) located in CeBIT.
