Maribor 2. 7. 2003 (PROTEXT/ots) - CONOCOPHILLIPS in Sloveniais about to complete its deal with the Croatian company UTILITASfor the purchase of a world sensation in the energy sector.

UTILITAS has developed a self-regenerating andenvironmentally safe electrolyte for long-lasting directcurrent. According to the team of experts from the twocompanies, the practically unlimited durability of theelectrolyte in a battery or power station, for example, marks atechnological quantum leap for the worldwide power supplymarket.

Not only is the newly developed electrolyte environmentallysafe unlike liquid electrolytes in previous rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries, it also has outstanding longevity. Theunlimited lifetime of this worldwide innovation will relegatetiresome battery changes and recharging to the past.

CONOCOPHILLIPS of Slovenia became convinced once and for allafter the test phase conducted jointly with UTILITAS. Acommercially available cell phone and other prototypes (radio, clock, light source) were subjected to several weeks of endurancetesting and measurements. The test results speak for themselves:the dry battery proved resistant to temperature changes, climaticconditions, mechanical shock and damage. The energy and voltageflow was constant for all prototypes during the entire testingperiod.

Given the worldwide average annual per capita batteryconsumption of 10-12 units, the new electrolyte for batterieswill make an important contribution to improving the environment.Present recycling problems will also be considerably alleviated.

CONOCOPHILLIPS of Slovenia is planning to start massproduction in the near future. The measurements and calculationsperformed by the team of experts have shown that the self-regenerating electrolyte can be used in rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries of the widest variety of sizes - frommicroelectronics to large-scale energy consumers.
