conVISUAL and debitel Bring Mobile Phone Displays to Life

OBERHAUSEN, Germany 13.3.2002 (PROTEXT/ots) - conVISUAL, the first visual messaging service provider, and debitel, the largest network-independent telephone company in Europe, kick off their co-operation with conVISUAL's mobile multimedia postcards. At the same time, debitel is presenting conVISUAL's "Handyfotos" at CeBIT.

debitel is presenting the first of conVISUAL's mobile multimedia services at this year's CeBIT under the product name "Handygrußkarten". This multimedia service is based on the concept of the "Mobile Picture Postcards" developed by conVISUAL. Customers choose postcard themes from an extensive selection of categories (travel, greetings, Cupid, etc.). They can then personalise the card by adding a message before sending it to any German mobile phone.

The postcards can be received by all mobile phone users as long as their device supports Smart Messaging, EMS, MMS or WAP. End customers with devices that only support text-based messages receive a personal code, which they can use to see the postcards in the Web portal.

With "Handyfotos", which is based on conVISUAL's "Mobile Photo Community", debitel is presenting the mobile version of the photo album. Photos are a record of the most beautiful moments in life. debitel will be showing how users can share these with friends as a CeBIT premiere. Users upload their digital photos to the Web portal. In the portal, the personal photo album can be created and managed via the Web and WAP. Photos from the last holiday can be shown directly via mobile phone, and snapshots can be sent to friends and acquaintances.

The photos can be sent via the Web and WAP and displayed directly as a Smart Message (Nokia), EMS (Ericsson, Siemens, Motorola etc.), as an MMS (Ericsson T68, Nokia 7650) or via WAP. In addition, pictures and photos can be stored in a public area and retrieved by all users.
