Dragonair Launches Freighter Service Between Frankfurt and Hong Kong/Asia, Accounts for More Than 49 Percent of Frankfurt Airport's Cargo Tonnage

FRANKFURT/Main, Germany 22.03.2004 (ots/PROTEXT) - BeginningMarch 29, the Asian carrier Dragonair (airline code = KA) will beinaugurating a cargo service between Frankfurt Airport (FRA) andHong Kong International Airport (HKG). A Dragonair B747-300Fjumbo freighter will be serving Frankfurt four times per week:every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The new serviceincludes a stop in Dubai on the way to and from Frankfurt.Dragonair is expanding its cargo network to FRA in response togrowing demand for freight capacity between Asia and Europe. In2003, Asia accounted for more than 49 percent of FRA's totalcargo tonnage. The arrival of Dragonair underscores CargoCityFrankfurt's (the name of Frankfurt Airport's cargo metropolis)continuing growth as a dominant player in the Asian market.With 1.7 million metric tons of airfreight and airmail in 2003,FRA ranked number one in Europe and number eight worldwide.Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide is also a memberof the Tradeport Hong Kong consortium that operates an advancedcargo logistics center at Hong Kong International Airport.
