EBV Elektronik Names Patrick Zammit as New President / Current Avnet EM EMEA CFO to Follow Axel Hartstang as Head of Europe's Leading Semiconductor Specialist

Patrick Zammit, currently chief financial officer ofAvnet Electronics Marketing EMEA, will succeed Axel Hartstang inthe position of chief executive of EBV Elektronik, effectiveJanuary 1, 2002. Zammit and Hartstang will share office for aperiod of six months to manage the transfer of responsibilities.Axel Hartstang, who currently holds both the positions of actingpresident of EBV and president of Avnet Electronics MarketingEMEA, will then focus entirely on his Avnet assignment. Patrick Zammit, 35, highly qualifies for his new position witha strong financial, strategic and operational background insemiconductors and distribution. Zammit has worked for AvnetEurope since 1993 in various management roles: * From 1993 to 1997, he led the finance, human resources andadministration teams of Avnet's French organization in Paris. * As director European operations (1997 to 1998), he wasinstrumental in re-organizing Avnet Electronics Marketing into atrue pan-European company, from integrating major acquisitionsto laying the groundwork for Avnet's European DistributionCenter in Tongeren, Belgium. * From January 1998 until now, Patrick Zammit held theposition of chief financial officer for Avnet ElectronicsMarketing EMEA, a responsibility in which he oversaw thetremendous growth of the company to its leading role inelectronic components marketing in Europe. Prior to joining Avnet, Zammit worked as senior consultant forArthur Andersen. The new EBV president is an MBA graduate fromE.S.L.S.C.A. business school, speaks fluent English, German andFrench, is married with three children and lives currently inBrussels, Belgium.
