European Biotech Award goes to Swiss-based Prionics

Zurich 24.09.2004 (PROTEXT/ots) - The Swiss-based companyPrionics AG has won the most highly acclaimed European BiotechAward, the European Biotechnica Award for Excellence in BiotechBusiness. The award was handed over yesterday at the BiotechnicaBusiness Forum in Berlin by the German Federal Minister ofEconomic Affairs, Wolfgang Clement.
The international jury awarded the Biotech prize for Prionicsexcellent track record both in research and development and inmarketing and sales.
Prionics is the world leader in mad cow disease testing andone of the top five companies in food safety diagnostics. Thecompany shot to fame in 2000 when its BSE tests uncovered thedevastating fact that cattle across Europe had contracted mad cowdisease. Prionics, an ISO 9001 certified company, currentlyemploys 105 people. Its research team works closely with anetwork of prion and food safety experts around the world.
