General topics of the plenary sessions are best practice examples of European power, heat and polygeneration plants in operation; Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Rational Use of Energy in buildings (RUE); renewable energies, their status quo and future perspectives in Central Europe, especially in the new EU member states Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Slovenia; financing and funding instruments.

The conference takes place in co-operation with CER2 (Central European Regions Cluster for Energy from Renewables.NETwork). CER2 is an INTERREG III B activity and is in the process of being established as a platform for communication and project development. Focus is on energy concepts, RES and RUE - start ups, standardised training schemes, quality assurance, and cluster development.

CER2 is based on the co-operation of 14 partners from 7 EU countries and is co-ordinated by arsenal research / business unit "Renewable Energy".
