Frankfurt Airport's Know-how Celebrated in Sharjah: New Cooperation Agreement Signed

Frankfurt/Main, Germany (PROTEXT/ots) - Twenty-five years agotoday, Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide and theAir Transportation Authority of the Emirate of Sharjah (UnitedArab Emirates) started an era of close cooperation thatcontinues today. Initially, Fraport AG advised the Emirate onthe Persian Gulf about the development of its Sharjah and KhorFakkan airports. Later, Frankfurt experts provided airportmanagement, operational and technical assistance.

Sharjah Airport (airport code = SHJ) has developed into aninternational transportation hub, particularly for air cargo(ranking 35 worldwide in terms of air cargo tonnage, accordingto ACI statistics for 2000). The 25th anniversary marking thissuccessful cooperation was celebrated in Sharjah by SheikhAbdulla and a Frankfurt delegation led by Dr. Wilhelm Bender,Fraport AG's Chairman of the Executive Board. The ceremony wasused as an occasion to sign a follow-up contract.

Under this contract, both companies plan to offer theirexpertise and services jointly at other airports in the MiddleEastern/Indian region. Furthermore, Fraport AG will supportSharjah Airport in its ongoing development to become an evenmore significant cargo logistics center.
