Fraport and Airlines Sign First Five-year Agreement on Airport Charges at FRA

FRANKFURT 30.04.2002 (PROTEXT) - Fraport AG Frankfurt AirportServices Worldwide and the airlines serving Frankfurt Airport(FRA) today signed a basic agreement defining, for the firsttime, the level of FRA's airport charges over a longer period.The airport company believes this agreement, which gives bothsides planning security over the next five years, is acontinuation of a reliable partnership system with the airlinesand their associations.

Fraport AG negotiated the agreement with the Board of AirlineRepresentatives in Germany (BARIG) -- which represents airlinesflying to Germany -- the German Airlines Association (ADLArbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Luftfahrt- Unternehmen) andDeutsche Lufthansa. The basic agreement will be retroactive toJanuary 1, 2002.

The agreement links airport charges with actual trafficdevelopment. This new charging agreement is based on the 2001proceeds from airport charges, which are related to the number ofdeparting passengers and which serve as a reference ratio. Underthe agreement, this reference ratio will be increased by a rateof about two percent annually, if the forecast for passengerfigures is reached. If passenger traffic grows faster thanplanned, the resulting higher income will go to the airlines ona pro rata basis i.e., one-third for the airlines and two-thirds for Fraport AG. The risk of passenger traffic developingbelow plan will be shared on the same pro rata basis.

The Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport and StateDevelopment has already signalled its approval for thisagreement. With the signing of this basic agreement, Fraport AGhas secured via the airlines financing for a 76 million passivenoise protection program for residents in the airport vicinity.
