Fraport Group Also Provides Security Services on the Coast

Frankfurt, Germany 11. 2. 2005 (PROTEXT/ots) - Fraport AG,owner and operator of Frankfurt Airport (FRA), markets its know-how developed over many decades to customers worldwide. Theexpertise gained in the aviation field will now be utilized inthe maritime sector via Fraports wholly owned subsidiary ICTSEurope Holdings B.V. the market leader for security services atairports in Europe and via its German branch, FIS GmbH ofKelsterbach.
Today, Fraports executive board chairman Dr. Wilhelm Benderspoke to the press in Hamburg about this interesting andimportant new business sector for the Group. High-levelsecurity experts are currently attending a conference in Hamburgfocusing on maritime security, as a result of the recenttightening worldwide of security regulations and requirementsfor international ferry and cruise ship traffic.
FIS GmbH hopes to transfer its expertise, which is based onacknowledged high security standards, to this new businesssector. In 2004, FIS first provided security services in themaritime sector in Bremerhaven, Germany. At the ColumbusCruise Center terminal there, FIS was contracted to implementstringent passenger and baggage checks for cruise ships.
FIS GmbH, which operates a large training center for itsemployees in Kelsterbach close to Frankfurt Airport, is anextremely dynamic company within the Fraport Group. The numberof FIS employees working at FRA climbed by approximately 900 in2004 and a huge increase is expected again in 2005, due to newcontracts and added responsibilities.
FIS already employs over 2,000 employees at Germanys largestairport and is in charge of screening passengers and theircarry-on baggage, airport employees, and those wanting to enterthe airports security areas, as well as the screening of goods.A further responsibility is the prior checking of passengertravel documents upon request of the airlines, depending onspecific regulations of the destination country.
In addition to Frankfurt Airport, FIS is currently active atmost airports throughout Germany.
