Fraport Traffic Figures - January 2005: Record January in Frankfurt / Passenger and Cargo Figures Continue to Grow - Group's Airports Enjoy Traffic Jump Again

FRANKFURT (Germany) 11th February (PROTEXT/ots) - FrankfurtAirport (FRA) passenger and airfreight traffic continued to growunabatedly in January 2005. About 3.7 million passengers usedGermany's largest airport during the first four weeks of the year- a 3.2 percent increase compared to the same month last yearand the strongest January in the history of the airport. FRAalso reported its best January ever for airfreight, handling135,707 metric tons and achieving a double-digit increase of18.2 percent.

Continuing increases in intercontinental traffic on routes toand from Asia, South Africa, and South America affectedpassenger growth, in particular. Destinations in Eastern Europeand Southeastern Europe also enjoyed strong demand. Intensifiedairfreight activity resulted mainly from new freighter servicesand increasing volumes for Far East connections. Furthermore,growth markets in Latin America, North Africa and Eastern Europegenerated positive impulses.

As expected, FRA's airmail volume continued to decline,dropping noticeably by 13.4 percent to 9,240 metric tons.Aircraft movements at FRA grew 3.2 percent to 38,098 takeoffsand landings. Maximum Takeoff Weights (MTOWs) jumped 6.6percent to 2.2 million metric tons compared to January 2004 -whereby FRA's share of widebody aircraft continued to rise.

The Fraport Group's other airports experienced strong growthfigures in January 2005. Combined, the six Fraport airportsserved some five million passengers during the reporting month.Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera, which attractedmany vacationers originally destined for Southeast Asia, welcomed317,808 passengers and experienced a double-digit increase of17.6 percent compared to January 2004. Frankfurt-Hahn Airport(HHN) also recorded a noticeable increase of 12.7 percent to198,128 passengers in January 2005.

Traffic to North America and Europe contributed over-proportionally to the surge in growth at Lima Airport (LIM),with figures increasing 13.4 percent to 451,062 passengers.Lima Airport serves as the regional air transportation hub forLatin America. Recently, Fraport inaugurated the Peru Plazaterminal expansion at LIM, which includes a shopping mallaccessible to the public. Frankfurt Airport - Traffic Figures for January 2005
