friendlyway launches skills centre for mobile customer communications: / first applications for iPAQ and Palm already implemented

Munich, Germany (ots/PROTEXT) - friendlyway AG launched theskills centre for mobile customer communications in Unterföhring,near Munich, in June. Its sphere of activity is to develop newproducts for mobile computer systems such as iPAQ from COMPAQ orPalm from Palm Pilot. The development centre will also continueto develop its mobile information products on behalf ofcustomers. In fact, friendlyway is currently preparing a telematicsproduct based on the Compaq iPAQ system for a major customer.This product will enable customers to handle mobile informationdepending on their location. In this way clients will, forinstance, be able to view the latest theatre listings or look ata detail of a city street map. "Future trends clearly point to mobile customercommunications. In public, customers will be able to use thesmall mobile aid to search for products and services. Localisedoffers in this case will mainly be broadcast via local Bluetoothor 802.11b transmitters," commented Dr. Peter Gebhard, presidentof friendlyway's Communication Solutions business unit and headof the skills centre for mobile customer communications. friendlyway has concentrated its efforts on the interfacebetween two gigantic trends - "online/offline" and"mobile/stationary". The major "online/offline" trend will seebanks and commercial customers incorporating e-commerce intotheir traditional branch outlets. On the other hand, the"mobile/stationary" trend deals with how these e-commerce offerscan best be controlled and downloaded. Customers will be able todownload product information on to their mobile computers andtake it home with them. As a result of this positioning, this spring friendlyway wasvoted one of the most innovative companies in Germany by"Netinvestor" magazine.
