BERLIN January 10 (PROTEXT/PRNewswire) - Sony Europe todayannounces the introduction of Memory Stick media with MemorySelect Function, which increases the capacity of Memory Stick andenables users to store different types of material into separatecategories. The first Memory Stick media with Memory SelectFunction incorporates two 128MB memory units which would, forexample, allow a user to store business presentations in one andfavourite pictures in the other.
"Memory Stick has evolved into a personal networking mediumwhich is usedto connect a growing list of products such asdigital still cameras, PDA's, PC's, portable audio devices,televisions, printers and car devices," says Gildas Pelliet, VicePresident, Sony Digital Imaging Europe. "As well as increasingcapacity, this new development makes it far more versatile anduser friendly, ensuring that it will continue as the format ofchoice as more Memory Stick enabled products are added to thelist."
Memory Stick media with Memory Select Function incorporatesmultiple 128MB memory units which are selected mechanically. Eachmemory unit can be used to categorise various types of data, suchas business and personal. Initially, it has a total capacity of256MB, which is much higher than its predecessors, although itsbasic capacity of 128MB ensures that it remains compatible withall products which are 128MB Memory Stick enabled. The currentMemory Stick data transfer rate of 20Mbps is maintained.
