Innovations Wanted: International Laser Prize in Production, Medicine and Biotechnology

Ditzingen, Germany 20. 10. 2003 (PROTEXT/ots) - The 2004International Berthold Leibinger Innovationspreis is now open toapplicants who have contributed outstanding innovations toapplied laser physics through development and research in thefields of production, laser medicine or biotechnology. Theprivate foundation Berthold Leibinger Stiftung awards threeprizes in the amounts of 20,000 Euros, 10,000 Euros, and 5,000Euros. The closing date for submission is November 30, 2003.

For the first time, the competition is also open to proposalsof first-rate research and development work. Proposed work willonly be made public if it is nominated by the jury.

Important criteria are advancements in practical applicationsor benefits to healthcare recipients. The international jury,made up of experts and leading figures from industry andscience, evaluates submitted work for its progress of scientificfindings in relation to the state of the art as well as itsscientific creativity and quality.

From personal applications and proposals, the jury willnominate a maximum of eight works. Then, at the invitation ofthe Berthold Leibinger Stiftung, the nominees will have theopportunity to personally present their innovations to the juryin the spring of 2004.

The Berthold Leibinger Stiftung awards the biannual prize tofoster advances in research and development in laser technologyand to showcase the results to the public.
