Hannover, Germany (PROTEXT/ots) - LambdaNet Communicationsreacted quickly to the announcement of bankruptcy made byKPNQwest to offer this competitor's former customers quick, reliable alternatives to solve their current network problems."International bandwidth and IP services in particular are inhigh demand," explained Dr. Dieter Finke, managing director ofLambdaNet Communications in Hannover. "Thanks to our Europe-widefiber transport network, we are in a position to offer powerfultransport network services based on IP/MPLS at short notice andwith high reliability."

During the past few days, the company has signed contractswith 20 KPNQwest customers. A number of different projects havealready been realized quickly and without restrictions inGermany and in France, allowing the first IP customers tomigrate to the LambdaNet network on Wednesday of last week withina matter of hours. On the basis of the stand-by scenariosoffered for KPNQwest customers, it was possible to implementmany replacement connections within just a few minutes andentire networks in just a few days.

With extensive network coverage 22,000 km in length andconnecting 104 cities in ten different countries, LambdaNetoperates one of the most closely woven fiber and IP networks inEurope. As such, LambdaNet is able to map all connections forthe KPNQwest customers in Europe virtually completely. LambdaNetexplains its strong market position on the basis of costleadership and strategic network expansion. "We havedeliberately focused on building national networks. In contrastto other carriers, we have not concentrated on the "racetracks". We realized very early that everywhere where three, fouror more competitors offer their services the pressure of pricesbecomes virtually "murderous". We have also made sure that wedo not merely serve individual routes, but rather offer completenetwork solutions. And we plan to intensify this approach evenfurther in the future by adding outsourcing offers, which meansthat we will be able to take over the entire range of transportnetwork services for other carriers," commented Finke.
