"Lima Airport Partners" Take Over Peru's Main Airport

FFANKFURT/MAIN, Germany (PROTEXT/ots) - Lima Airport PartnersS.R.L. -- a consortium comprising Fraport AG (Frankfurt AirportServices Worldwide), the U.S. construction firm BechtelEnterprises International Ltd., and the Peruvian constructioncompany Cosapi S.A. -- officially took over Lima's AeropuertoInternacional Jorge Chávez (airport code = LIM) today. ThePeruvian government privatized Lima Airport last November when itawarded a 30-year concession for Lima Airport (with an option toextend) to the Fraport-led consortium. The three consortiumpartners founded the Peruvian registered company called LimaAirport Partners S.R.L. to implement this project. The goal is tomodernize and expand the capacity of Lima Airport in the comingyears and to offer high standards of service to passengers andaviation customers. At the same time, the airport will serve anattractive calling card for Peru and Latin America.

Fraport AG has paid out $6.4 million for its 42.75 percentshare of the capital stock in the new company. Fraport AG willselect two of the five supervisory board positions of LimaAirport Partners S.R.L., as well as two of the three managementpositions. Recruiting is in progress, with most of theapproximately 150 airport employees of the airport authorityreceiving employment contracts from Lima Airport Partners S.R.L.For the transition phase, Fraport AG has assembled a project teamof over 20 specialists: from Fraport itself, Fraport's DeutscheAeroConsult GmbH subsidiary, as well as several external staff. Developing Lima As A Leading Latin American Gateway: Passenger and cargo traffic at Lima Airport is expected tomore than double by the end of the decade. Frankfurt know-howwill play a significant role in modernizing and expanding Peru'sinternational air transpiration gateway in the years to come.Optimizing the airport infrastructure is an urgent priority forPeru. Along with implementing high international aviationstandards, Lima Airport Partners S.R.L. plans to offer passengersa modern and economically successful airport. The airport willserve an attractive calling card for this fascinating Andeancountry and the surrounding region. Peru's vast tourism potentialand its strategic geographic location are considered importantadvantages for developing Lima as a leading Latin Americangateway.
