Frankfurt/Main (ots) - To expand its market position beyond Frankfurt Airport to other German-speaking and international markets, Media Frankfurt GmbH decided in a company meeting yesterday to sell 39 percent of its shares to JCDecaux, a world leader in outdoor and airport advertising. Media Frankfurt GmbH is a subsidiary of Flughafen Frankfurt/Main AG (FAG) and Deutschen Staedte-Medien GmbH (DSM) responsible for marketing Frankfurt Airport as an advertising location. The strategic partnership with JCDecaux will change the ownership structure of Media Frankfurt so that FAG will hold a 51-percent majority of the shares, followed by JCDecaux Deutschland GmbH (Cologne) with 39 percent, and DSM with the remaining 10 percent. The deal still requires the approval of FAG's Supervisory Board. Media Frankfurt has successfully increased its advertising revenues at Frankfurt Airport over the years. By developing FRA as a prestige location for advertising, Media Frankfurt has consistently grown its revenues to about DM25 million in 1999. This year, double-digit growth in total revenues is expected. JCDecaux operates worldwide through its subsidiary companies in Europe, the U.S.A. and Asia. In the airport advertising market alone, JCDecaux has concessions at 139 locations including airports in Hong Kong, London, New York, Paris and Washington. Bernd L. Struck, Senior General Manager of Flughafen Frankfurt/Main AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Media Frankfurt GmbH, said "The strategic partnership with JCDecaux will allow Media Frankfurt to strengthen its position in marketing airport locations to advertisers beyond Frankfurt. Activities will focus on German-speaking countries as well as certain overseas markets, in partnership with JCDecaux. Another key goal is developing new forms of airport advertising, particularly for outdoor areas." Jean-Francois Decaux, Co-Chief Executive Officer of JCDecaux Out of Home Media Gruppe (Paris) explained that "in terms of the globalization of advertising media, this partnership with Media Frankfurt represents an important step towards increasing the attractiveness of airport advertising around the world". Effective January 1, 2001, Andreas Prasse, age 34, will become the new Managing Director of Media Frankfurt GmbH. He replaces Ute Pohl who is returning to Flughafen Frankfurt/Main AG to head up the retail and concessions department, part of FAG's Traffic and Terminal Management (VTM) strategic business division. ots Original Text Service: Flughafen Frankfurt/Main AG Im Internet recherchierbar: http://recherche.newsaktuell.de For More Information, Please Contact: Flughafen Frankfurt/Main AG Press & Publications (Dept.
