Berlin, Germany (PROTEXT/ots) - Surplex, Europe's leading provider of marketing solutions for used machine tools, and the European Association of Machine Tool Merchants (EAMTM), which with over 330 members is the largest European association of machine tool merchants, have recently signed a joint venture agreement to market used machine tools via the Internet. Thus the leading forces of the old and the new economies are establishing a powerful, new kind of partnership in the used machine tool sector, with an estimated value of 55 billion euros. With its technological competence, its international structure and its close links with industry, Surplex offers the EAMTM's members a new way of buying and selling used machine tools. In return, Surplex stands to benefit from the vast wealth of experience, the extensive range of services and the market presence of the EAMTM. "EAMTM has a long tradition in machine tool trading and we can be sure to profit from the Association's high repute", was the view expressed on the new Joint Venture by Surplex Director Bruno Schick. "Our customers will also immediately have at their disposal the service provided by the EAMTM's members, who are offering valuation, maintenance and repair services, including the provision of spare parts, in addition to their machine tools." In return, Surplex will support EAMTM's members in setting up databases and in designing their own websites, which will be linked to Surplex's own site. "Surplex is the right partner to prepare our members for the world of e-commerce and to generate new business on a global level", says Walter Grignani, Chairman of the EAMTM. Surplex also offers the EAMTM merchants a major source of supply for used machine tools. Over 12,000 different machine tools are currently on offer at Surplex's Internet marketplace, www.surplex.com, which is currently enjoying 700,000 hits per week and has over 8,000 registered customers. Through its workforce of 110 employees accross Berlin, Brussels, Dusseldorf, London, Paris, Stockholm, Warsaw, Vienna, Madrid, Milan, Moscow and Bahrain, Surplex also has offline sales and marketing ability to complement the website.
