The 20 Nominees for the European IST Grand Prize Announced

PARIS (France) October 6 (PROTEXT/PRNewswire) - Independentexperts from Euro-CASE have proposed 20 "Nominees for theEuropean IST Grand Prize" to the European Commission.

The European Information Society Technologies Prize is themost distinguished award for groundbreaking products thatrepresent the best of European innovation in Information SocietyTechnologies. It is organised by Euro-CASE* with the support andsponsorship of the IST Programme of the European Commission.

The 20 Nominees for the IST Grand Prize have been proposed tothe European Commission by independent experts from 16 Europeancountries, nominated by Euro-CASE and agreed by the EuropeanCommission. The 20 Nominees for the Grand Prize have been drawnfrom a pool of 66 Nominees for the European IST Prize. They comefrom the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany,Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Spain and UK.

The 20 Nominees for the Grand Prize represent the best inEuropean Information Society Technologies. They will exhibittheir products at the European IST Prize Exhibition at theEuropean Commission in Brussels on 30 November - 1 December 2005.

From amongst the 20 Nominees for the Grand Prize, Euro-CASEwill propose 3 Grand Prize Winners to the European Commission.

The European Commission will select up to 20 European ISTPrize Winners and up to 3 Grand Prize Winners.

The European IST Prize Awards Ceremony will take place on 23March 2006 at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna.
