VIENNA 12. 11. 2003 (PROTEXT/ots) - Lomographic SocietyInternational presents - the totally vast internationalLomographic snapshot competition in collaboration with the BMWGroup.

The Lomographic Society International with its LomographicEmbassies on five continents is organising a staggering photocompetition, in collaboration with BMW, for the launch of the newSports Activity Vehicle X3. Everybody is invited to send in aminimum of four virtuoso snapshots taken in everyday situationsin each of the following categories: 1.) Your Passengers - thecreatures you give a ride to; 2.) Your Tools - things around you;3.) Your Day - things you do in the morning, at work or afterdark; 4.) Your Favourite Picture - that wonderful moment when itall came together.

The target is to build the biggest photography wall everwithin six months, to be set at a (still secret) location insummer 2004 - over 50,000 snapshots on a wall, some hundredmetres long, providing an overview of everyday lives, habits,'visual atmospheres' around the globe today: an adventure triparound the world!

Dozens of gorgeous prizes are being awarded every monthbetween December 2003 and May 2004; all monthly prize-winnersqualify for the finals; in May 2004 a jury will select the bestof the best: Four overall winners get the mega-prize, a tour withthe new BMW for 2 people from one metropolis to another,choosing their own route - anywhere, from Paris to Madrid, fromShanghai to Hong Kong, from Anchorage to San Diego - and ofcourse documenting it thoroughly!

The first "offline" exhibition is taking place at thePhotography fair Paris Photo 2003, September 13-16, Carrousel duLouvre. Starting shot: unique Lomographic 3-dimensionalsculptures (comprised of 10,000 images), an artistic visual studyof modern people, modern lifestyles and modern mobility, seenthrough thousands of eyes and thousands of lomographic lenses.
